Courrèges
Courrèges has made a comeback in the recent years with a refreshed futurism to win back its audience, just like it did in the ‘60s and ‘70s – a period that marked by the designer’s innovative use of novel materials such as PVC and painted leather. Founder André Courrèges honed his skills in the atelier of the designer Cristobal Balenciaga. Innovative is almost an understatement to describe Courrèges. Highly progressive for his times, he is seen as the inventor of leggings and go-go boots, but more famously, the miniskirt. Like this, he established a new vision of the female silhouette: one that was streamlined in its form yet captivating from a daring use of colours. Today, the fashion house is overseen by Nicolas Di Felice, who revisits the avant-garde a la Courrèges with the use of shiny fabrics, square cuts and provocative cut-out details. A futuristic aesthetic created for the contemporary woman.
