Reike Nen

Korean phenomenon Reike Nen creates contemporary footwear inspired by elements of the past. Its designer Rei Yoon Hong wants you to look for what she calls a "contemporary sophistication", with designs from which hints of traditional elements emerge, like of the ceramics, furniture ornaments and paper craftsmanship that represent the elegance of her home country, Korea. Founded in 2010, with a studio in Seongsu, Seoul, Reike Nen works by first expressing the concept of the collections followed by the process necessary to achieve the final product. It’s a path full of stimuli, with inspirations coming from photos, drawings, films and exhibitions. Like a creative potpourri with a single purpose: to tell stories, to communicate the rationale behind the creations. Well-researched and boldly refined, Reike Nen wins with its fresh approach and oh-so-current taste.
